The Old Schoolhouse is one of the most unique buildings you will ever see. Built in 1994 on the architectural principles of Rudolf Steiner, it really was designed as a schoolhouse as it is the place where the farm’s children received their education – by distance education and a live-in governess. Artifacts in the shape of artwork and barely visible paint smudges on the floor tiles still bear witness to this fact. With the improvement of the access road, the younger children eventually spent their last few school years attending the local public school in Coonabarabran, and the lovely Old Schoolhouse was renovated for use as a guesthouse, so that others could experience its marvellous atmosphere.
Raised on the trunks of eleven old gums, and detailed throughout with handcrafted timber and handmade clay tiles, the octagonal Old Schoolhouse provides guests with an elevated living experience. Complete with views to all points of the compass, the encompassing peace of the surrounding farm and bushland soaks in through the living timber of this beautiful “fairy-tale” building.
With room to sleep up to 8 people, the Old Schoolhouse is ideal for a relaxing getaway in the bush. It features a kitchenette for self-catered accommodation, an unrivalled, inspiring shower made of hand-sculpted tiles, and a cosy living area. Barbecue facilities are available on the ground floor, perfect for a special meal al fresco with family and friends. To complement the holiday feel we can offer Breakfast in our Blue Wren cafe.
